Message from EN digital - Recent Cyber-Attacks on Schools

FAO: IT Dept, Headteachers, School Business Managers

Following the recent cyber-attacks in schools across Kent, the EN digital team want to reassure you that this would be unlikely across the schools we currently support in Enfield.

The hackers encrypted data from schools’ databases in Kent, however, as our schools use cloud-based systems such as Scholar Pack and RM, your data is not stored internally within your individual school servers. Therefore, if a hacker was to gain entry to your school network, no data is stored there to be retrieved.

We ensure that all our clients’ systems are up to date with the latest security, as well as providing daily backups. We also receive notifications in advance from LGFL of any suspicious activity, such as viruses, and can intervene immediately.

As a precaution, please can you all be vigilant of any unusual emails from unknown sources, particularly where attachments and links are being requested for you to open.

If you would like to discuss your school IT security systems to minimise any cyberattack or threat, please email sts@enfield.gov.uk
