LFD Testing Update: ALL positive LFD tests to be followed up with a confirmatory PCR test

FAO: All Secondary Schools

Please be aware that the government has announced that ALL POSITIVE LFD tests should be followed up with a confirmatory PCR test.

Whilst all home LFD tests have been undertaking this, LFDs completed on school sites (‘assisted’ testing) had not been required to have the confirmatory PCRs. This has now been reversed, and confirmatory PCR re-introduced.

The rest of the guidance remains the same:

If there is a positive LFD test, isolate close contacts and advise the person to undertake a PCR test (and should be within 2 days of the positive LFD according to the link above).

If the PCR comes back positive, then continue isolation

If the PCR comes back negative, isolation can be stopped and everyone can come back to school
