Leading Your Subject: Creating, Developing, Reviewing - English OLD VERSION

Aims

To support English/literacy leads in creating, developing and reviewing English/literacy provision across the primary range. It will be applicable for both new and experienced leads. 

Overview

This three-part programme for English coordinators looks at all aspects of curriculum design and delivery, in the context of overarching views of excellent curriculum design and Ofsted’s 2019 Inspection Framework. Each session will last a day and look at reading and writing:

Session 1 (live via Zoom)

• How Ofsted defines an English ‘curriculum’
• Creating an exciting, effective, connected and pupil-focused curriculum in reading and writing
• Sharing experiences of English delivery from across the UK

Session 2 (on-demand recording to support reflection and activities)

• Sharing and embedding expectations in English
• Monitoring strategies that focus on improvement in reading and writing
• What is ‘cultural capital’, and how do we ‘deliver’ it?

Session 3 (live via Zoom)

• Creating challenge in a mastery curriculum for reading and writing
• Ensuring consistency in provision
• Establishing and evidencing impact
