Aims

To support history leads in creating, developing and reviewing history provision across the primary range. It will be applicable for both new and experienced leads. 

Overview

This three-part programme for History coordinators looks at all aspects of curriculum design and delivery, in the context of overarching views of excellent curriculum design and Ofsted’s 2019 Inspection Framework. Each half-day session will cover:

Session 1 (live via Zoom)

  • How Ofsted defines a History ‘curriculum’
  • Creating an exciting, effective, connected and pupil-focused curriculum in History
  • Sharing experiences of History delivery from across the UK

Session 2 (on-demand recording to support reflection and activities)

  • Sharing and embedding expectations for History
  • Monitoring strategies that focus on improvement in History
  • What is ‘cultural capital’ in History, and how do we deliver it?

Session 3 (live via Zoom)

  • Creating challenge in a mastery curriculum for History
  • Ensuring consistency in History provision
  • Establishing and evidencing impact

 

History must share with reading, writing and arithmetic first rank as the most important subjects in the curriculum
