3 Finance Sessions: Benchmarking, Three Year Budget Planning & Interactive Budget Planning Tool

Aims

To provide an overview of benchmarking and three year budget planning in schools. The third session will incorporate the use of an interactive planning tool.  

Overview

This set of three sessions is designed to support SBMs and Headteachers with benchmarking, budget planning and the use of a planning tool iin schools. Maintained Schools will be required to attend all three sessions.

Session 1 - 20.10.21 9.30 - 10.15 a.m.

This session will include an introduction to and the benefits of benchmarking. The session will consider areas to explore when benchmarking and will provide some hints as to how to compare, interpret and use the information to support financial planning.

Session 2 - 20.10.21 10.15 - 11 p.m.

This session will consider the requirements for producing a robust three year budget plan that is viable and sustainable. During the session, the strategic relationship between the School Improvement Plan and the Three Year budget will be outlined and how a team of key personnel working together would improve the planning process and the devleopment of the three year budget plan. 

Session 3 - see below

At the end of the second session, schools would have been provided with an interactive tool and asked to populate the tool in advance of this session.  During this session, the results from populating the tool will be explained and discussed.  Attendees will be required to participate during this session.  Important: please use this MS Form to indicate your school phase, we will then send out the link separately.

Dates will be as follows:

Primary: 11.11.21 9.30-11.00 a.m. & 1.30-3.00 p.m. sessions

Secondary 18.11.21 9.30-11.00 a.m.

Special 18.11.21 1.30-3.00 p.m.

We would recommend that Headteachers also attend this series of sessions.
