Aims
This course will examine the statutory requirements for the Early Years Foundation Stage and explore the themes and principles which underpin it as well as the non-statutory guidance which supports the delivery of the curriculum.
The course will cover:
- The importance of child development and how young children learn
- How the enabling environment promotes children's learning
- The importance of the learning environment and your contribution to this
- The importance of valuing and using the outdoor environment as an extension of the indoor learning environment
- Developing strategies for effective adult-child interactions
- Observation skills, assessment and planning
- Understanding the assessment requirements of the EYFS Profile
- Developing partnerships with parents
