Essential Knowledge that KS1 Teaching Assistants need to know to teach maths in years 1 & 2

Aims

To consider the essential knowledge needed to support KS1 children.   

This 2 session course is suitable for all KS1 TAs and support staff who work with pupils in maths lessons in key stage 1.

Overview

The sessions will include:

An exploration of the manipulatives and images which can be used support pupil's understanding in maths.

An opportunity to unpick key objectives and consider how we can help pupil's remember more.

Consideration of the importance of language and pupils communicating mathematically.
