Aims
To be aware of the research and pedagogical approaches to the effective teaching of times tables and use this to develop a whole school approach.
Overview
This two session program is suitable for maths leads and all classroom teachers. The interactive sessions will include:
- Developing an understanding of progression in times tables across different year groups
- Sharing of research and approaches that have shown to positively impact student knowledge and retention
- Exploration of a range of ideas and activities to develop conceptual understanding and reasoning
- Looking at the implications of the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC)
- Developing or revising a whole school policy on the teaching and learning of times tables
