Aims

To be aware of the research and pedagogical approaches to the effective teaching of times tables and use this to develop a whole school approach. 

 

 

Overview

This two session program is suitable for maths leads and all classroom teachers. The interactive sessions will include:  

  • Developing an understanding of progression in times tables across different year groups
  • Sharing of research and approaches that have shown to positively impact student knowledge and retention 
  • Exploration of a range of ideas and activities to develop conceptual understanding and reasoning
  • Looking at the implications of the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC)
  • Developing or revising a whole school policy on the teaching and learning of times tables
