Aims

To develop an active approach to reading comprehension in years 5 & 6.

Overview

This three-part programme will support teachers to identify children’s individual barriers to comprehension and provide targeted approaches in response through:

  • Exploring the barriers to reading comprehension
  • Deveoping an understanding of inference strategies to build skills (including integrating and building meaning)
  • Exploring effective questioning to support inference and evaluation

If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn
