Makaton Level 2 Sign and Symbol Workshop - Dec 2022

Aims

To be able to use early concept signs, symbols and speech from Stages 3 & 4
To be able to use the remaining half of Additional Vocabulary in the daily environment
To be able to use Makaton techniques for directionality placement and movement
To understand how to introduce Makaton universally, in a practical way

Overview

This intensive 1-day course, accredited by Makaton, is designed to enable participants to use prescribed signs, symbols and speech to support and develop children’s communication skills. The workshops will provide a practical introduction to the use of sign, symbol together with speech, the teaching of stages 3 and 4 plus the remaining half of the additional vocabulary from the Core Vocabulary. Sessions will also include discussions around commonly asked questions, tips for effective sign & symbol use and how to start using Makaton in your settings to aid, support and accelerate the development of language for individuals and groups of children.
The course consists of 2 modules created by Makaton; each module must be completed as set out for you to receive your Makaton Certificate.
In order to ensure high quality training our Licensed Tutors will adhere to Makaton’s guidelines.To attend this workshop, you must have previously attended one of the following:
Makaton Level 1 Sign and Symbol Workshop or
Day One of either a Makaton Beginners or Foundation Workshop within the last 12 months (2020/21)

A charge of £18.00 for the Makaton manual will be made for SEND/Inclusion subscription schools. For non-subscription schools, this charge is included in the course fee.
