Aims
To support computing leads in creating, developing and reviewing computing provision across the primary range. It will be applicable for both new and experienced leads.
Overview
This three-part programme for Computing coordinators looks at all aspects of curriculum design and delivery, in the context of overarching views of excellent curriculum design and Ofsted’s 2019 Inspection Framework. Each half-day session will cover:
Session 1 (live via Zoom)
- How Ofsted defines a Computing ‘curriculum’
- Creating an exciting, effective, connected and pupil-focused curriculum in Computing
- Sharing experiences of Computing and ICT delivery from across the UK
Session 2 (on-demand recording to support reflection and activities)
- Sharing and embedding expectations for Computing
- Monitoring strategies that focus on improvement in Computing
- What is ‘cultural capital’ in Computing, and how do we deliver it?
Session 3 (live via Zoom)
- Creating challenge in a mastery curriculum for Computing
- Ensuring consistency in Computing provision
- Establishing and evidencing impact
Computational thinking is a fundamental skill. To reading, writing, and arithmetic, we should add computational thinking to every child’s analytical ability
