Aims
To support geography leads in creating, developing and reviewing geography provision across the primary range. It will be applicable for both new and experienced leads.
Overview
This three-part programme for Geography coordinators looks at all aspects of curriculum design and delivery, in the context of overarching views of excellent curriculum design and Ofsted’s 2019 Inspection Framework. Each half-day session will cover:
Session 1 (live via Zoom)
- How Ofsted defines a Geography ‘curriculum’
- Creating an exciting, effective, connected and pupil-focused curriculum in Geography
- Sharing experiences of Geography delivery from across the UK
Session 2 (on-demand recording to support reflection and activities)
- Sharing and embedding expectations for Geography
- Monitoring strategies that focus on improvement in Geography
- What is ‘cultural capital’ in Geography, and how do we deliver it?
Session 3 (live via Zoom)
- Creating challenge in a mastery curriculum for Geography
- Ensuring consistency in Geography provision
- Establishing and evidencing impact
