Leading Your Subject: Creating, Developing, Reviewing - Science OLD VERSION

Aims

To support science leads in creating, developing and reviewing science provision across the primary range. It will be applicable for both new and experienced leads. 

Overview

This three-part programme for Science coordinators will looks at all aspects of curriculum design and delivery, in the context of overarching views of excellent curriculum design and Ofsted’s 2019 Inspection Framework. Each half-day session will cover:

Session 1 (live via Zoom)

• How Ofsted defines a Science ‘curriculum’
• Creating an exciting, effective, connected and pupil-focused curriculum in Science
• Sharing experiences of Science delivery from across the UK

Session 2 (on-demand recording to support reflection and activities)

• Sharing and embedding expectations for Science
• Monitoring strategies that focus on improvement in Science
• What is ‘cultural capital’ in Science, and how do we deliver it?

Session 3 (live via Zoom)

• Creating challenge in a mastery curriculum for Science
• Ensuring consistency in Science provision
• Establishing and evidencing impact

Science is the acceptance of what works and the rejection of what does not. That needs more courage than we might think.
