Aims
Online Safety and the DfE’s Standards for Cyber Security – Governors Responsibilities and Best Practice
Overview
The Safeguarding Forum provides an opportunity for Governors to discuss issues related to safeguarding and the ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)’ statutory guidance, to which schools must have regard when carrying out their duties to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. It’s a platform for discussing implications relating to the guidance and arising issues. You are invited to submit questions/suggested topics prior to the session.
This term's focus is Online Safety and the Governors role to ensure online safety measures are in place. Understand your role in keeping pupils safe online and appropriately challenge and monitor your school’s internet policies and practices.
The DfE’s new technology standards will be covered as these should be met in order for boards to fulfil their strategic responsibilities under Keeping children safe in education (KCSIE) and the Prevent duty. Governing bodies and proprietors have overall strategic responsibility for meeting these standards.
