The Amos Bursary is looking for British students of Caribbean descent in Year 12 to apply

  • Deadline for applications is the 23rd January 2021
  • We are looking for students who are studying any subjects at A level
  • Please encourage Caribbean students to apply

 What does the Amos Bursary do? 

Since 2009, The Amos Bursary has been helping Britain’s talented young men of African and Caribbean heritage, who attend state schools from challenging environments, fulfil their academic potential, attend top universities, secure good professional jobs and give back to society.  In 2021 we will be welcoming our first cohort of young women.

From sixth form to University graduate - We provide the successful applicants with social skills and networks to help them achieve their career ambitions. The five-year programme empowers the students to understand their true worth and develop the skills to help them make informed choices for their futures. We work in partnership with universities looking to recruit and retain high calibre young men and employees wanting to diversify their workforce.

The programme

As an AB student you will have access to:

●    Weekly zoom workshops under the current COVID environment. Post COVID -we will return to Saturday  sessions

●    A peer and professional mentor from a range of disciplines and backgrounds.  

●    Preparation for internships/work experience

●    Access to at least 1 international experience to broaden horizons, cultural awareness as global citizens

●    Collaborations with individuals and organisations required for career progression and to operate in the workplace. 

●    Access to networking: career, sporting and social opportunities

●    Students are expected to give back to charities and their communities

●    Receive a Bursary of £500.00 a year while at University ( unless in receipt of a scholarship)

Parents are invited to sessions where they are informed about the education system and the rapidly changing world for young people in the 21st Century
