Launch of campaign to promote crisis lines for young people and families
FAO: All Schools / All Phases
Dear Colleagues,
Healthy London Partnership has launched a campaign to raise awareness among young people and their families of London’s free NHS mental health crisis lines.
The campaign has been developed with feedback and input from young people and parents, and will be largely based on social media, and for use in education and community settings, GP surgeries, etc.
Since 2020 we have seen an increase in young people needing urgent mental health support. That’s why every mental health trust in London has put in place a free crisis line, supported by trained mental health advisors and clinicians, and open 365 days a year.
However, research commissioned by HLP indicates that they are not well known among young people and parents. We need to ensure that the crisis lines and the services they provide are more widely known, so young people and their families can get help quickly when they need it. We also want to raise awareness of the crisis lines among professionals who may come into contact with young people in urgent mental health need.
Paul Jenkins, Chief Executive Officer of The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust said “The last 18 months have been particularly hard for young people’s mental health and wellbeing. Every trust has put in place an urgent mental health support offer. I urge you use your communications channels to share the campaign resources and ensure there is joined-up messaging across the system in London so every young person is aware of the support on offer.”
A toolkit of the social media assets, posters, and articles for your own publications and website can be downloaded here. Please help us to reach young people and families by using these resources on your social media channels and promoting them through your own stakeholders and networks.
Together we can raise awareness of the crisis lines and help young people get support when they need it.
