School Climate Action Network 16th November 2021

All schools

Enfield Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and the council has committed to becoming a carbon neutral organisation by 2030 and a carbon neutral borough by 2040.

Enfield’s schools make up more than a quarter of the council’s carbon emissions and our school climate action network supports schools to take climate action and reduce these emissions.

Climate action can be incorporated into every aspect of school life, from curriculum, to estate management, to how you support families to get to and from school in a way which maximises their health and minimises their carbon footprint.

Our next network event is taking place 3.30 – 5pm on Tuesday 16th November. This will be a virtual event on Teams.

The purpose of the network is to bring together school and council officers to help develop ways in which we can support schools-based climate action across the borough.

At this event on 16th November we’re planning to focus on energy and carbon on school estates; and to discuss the outcome of COP26. You can find out more about what’s happening for schools and young people during COP26 in the attached briefing.

If you would be interested in presenting to colleagues on the network about your school’s climate action, please get in touch with us at climate.emergency@Enfield.gov.uk
