North London Waste Authority
For the School Business Manager & Site Manager/ Team in all Schools
Have your say on what a waste prevention outreach programme in your primary school could look like
North London Waste Authority (NLWA) is developing an outreach programme for the 2024/5 academic year and would like to involve north London primary schools in the decision-making. The key aims of their programme are to:
- Test a programme of interventions to establish a culture of waste prevention within both staff and pupils.
- To reduce the waste produced in the primary schools they work with.
To learn more about the proposal, please see the attachment.
NLWA would like to hear from you. Could you help by answering the following questions?
- What is currently taught at your school around waste prevention, such as reducing, reusing, recycling and other sustainable waste behaviours?
- What would you like to see included in the primary schools' outreach programme NLWA delivers, such as activities, materials and topics covered?
- Do you have any feedback relating to the outreach programme proposal?
If interested, please email wastepreventionteam@NLWA.gov.uk - a consultation would require just 30 minutes of your time!
To say thank you to schools that take part in consultations, NLWA will arrange either a trip to the EcoPark in Edmonton for your pupils, or a visit to your school from their partner at the North London Heat and Power Project. Both will focus on what happens to our waste and are a great opportunity for our students to learn about the impact of waste from a young age!
