Autistic and OK Programme

For all Phases in all Schools & Academies, SENDCo, PSHE & Mental Health Leads

We are delighted to announce the national launch of the Autistic and OK programme, developed by Ambitious about Autism in collaboration with Zurich UK and the Z Zurich Foundation.

Everyone should be able to feel OK at school, but we know this isn’t the case for many autistic pupils. Four in five autistic young people have experienced mental health issues, yet only 10 per cent feel comfortable reporting this to professionals. The Autistic and OK programme empowers autistic pupils to take control of their own mental health and wellbeing before reaching crisis point. The programme has been developed in collaboration with autistic young people as well as specialists in mental health and wellbeing.

Our comprehensive, free toolkit equips secondary schools to run a peer-led programme for autistic pupils, as well as providing further resources to foster an environment of autism understanding and acceptance throughout the whole-school community. Following the success of our programme pilot in Autumn term 2023, the Autistic and OK toolkit is now available for all secondary schools to download and implement in their settings.
