Celebrating the Nobel Peace Prize laureate 2025: Nihon Hidankyo
We would like to invite you and your network to join us in commemorating the 80th year since the last time nuclear weapons were used in war and, potentially, to collaborate in the future.
In just a few weeks, The Nobel Peace Center will host one of our biggest events throughout the year – The Nobel Peace Conference. On August 6th, distinguished speakers from across the world will meet at the Nobel Peace Center, celebrating this year’s Nobel Peace Prize Laureate; the Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo.
Since 1956, Nihon Hidankyo has spread awareness of the consequences of nuclear weapons through their witness testimony. Today, their dream of a world without nuclear arms could not be more relevant and important.
Nihon Hidankyo’s message is clear: this dream and this work must reach new generations.
You can join this effort by taking an active part, or by simply spreading the word about the festival:

Here are two ways you can take part:
- The Nobel Peace Lesson: share it with teachers!
The Nobel Peace Lesson is a free, flexible, digitally available English-language educational resource. It contains a teacher guide, tasks for the students, a video among other things.
It is made by and for educators; providing teachers across the world with the necessary materials to conduct a class about Nihon Hidankyo, their work for nuclear disarmament and . No prior knowledge required.
The resource has been endorsed by Nobel Peace Laureate Nihon Hidankyo, and it is completely free to use.

Curious about cooperation in the future?
The Education Department at the Nobel Peace Center cooperates with educational institutions and networks across the world.
Examples include sharing of educational material and co-hosting events/Q&As for teachers in the days after the announcement of the new Nobel Peace Prize, which happens yearly in October. If this is of interest to your organization, feel free to reach out.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at education@nobelpeacecenter.org if you have any questions!
