Construction Project Management Summer Placement (age 18+)
Job Description

We provide a range of professional services to help our clients design, construct and operate their projects, such as engineering, environmental planning, and project management. The HQ of our UK operations is our London Aldgate office.
AECOM has been appointed by Enfield Council to provide project management and technical assurance services on the Meridian Water Strategic Infrastructure Works contract. The Meridian Water Regeneration Project is a major regeneration project in Edmonton which will provide new homes, jobs and community facilities. The Meridian Water Strategic Infrastructure Works involves the delivery of strategic utility services, highways, demolition and construction works, earthworks, land remediation, and bridges infrastructure.
AECOM is pleased to offer a series of placements to work within our project management consultancy team over summer 2025. We are seeking individuals to be integrated into the project management / cost management team at AECOM and to assist with tasks related to the Meridian Water SIW contract, working under the close supervision of senior colleagues.
Your placement will:
Provide you with broad exposure to the Programme, Project & Cost Consultancy practice area
Develop your technical skills and knowledge, and your knowledge of the industry as a whole
Develop your behavioural skills and learn the AECOM culture
Duration, Schedule and Location
Summer placements will be up to six weeks in duration (shorter placements are also possible, if preferred), five days a week for eight hours per day. Placement students will spend 2-3 days per week on the Meridian Water site in Enfield and the rest in the AECOM London Aldgate office.
Although the placement will be unpaid, AECOM will cover travel expenses to and from home to the
London Aldgate office and the Meridian Water site. Individuals will be provided with a laptop for the duration of their placement.
Typical Project Management Duties
Placement students are likely to gain exposure on some of the duties outlined below, however, this will be dependent on the stage of the project they are working on:
Co-ordinating and minuting construction progress meeting, including monitoring consultant meetings
Supporting with AECOM’s role as the Employers Agent or Contract Administrator under the Contract
Manage the change control process
Manage the risk management process
Co-ordinate and manage inspections by the consultants of the design and construction of the works
Monitoring construction progress
Reporting to the Client on a regular basis
Health and Safety
Placement students must be aged 18 or over at commencement of the placement to comply with health and safety requirements on site.
Individuals will be covered by AECOM third party insurance.
Qualifications
Please include a covering letter with your application explaining why you would like to take up the placement and providing all predicted and/or obtained academic grades.
No relevant experience is necessary. The position is ideally suited to pre-university school leavers at A-
Level standard (or equivalent) who can demonstrate minimum of grade 4 in Maths & English GCSE (or equivalent), or to university students on a relevant course who would like to gain industry experience.
