Asthma Friendly Schools Initiative
Enfield Council’s Public Health Team have commissioned Royal Free London NHS Trust to deliver an asthma friendly initiative in schools to help schools support young people to manage their asthma more effectively.
The initiative will be delivered by the School Nursing Service who will be rolling out the Asthma Friendly Schools initiative from September 2025.
The Asthma Friendly Schools initiative is designed to improve the care and management of children and young people with asthma in educational settings. It promotes a collaborative approach between health services, schools, and local authorities to ensure safe and effective asthma support.
The announcement of this new initiative coincides with the national NHS Ask About Asthma campaign that runs from 8th to 11th September (#AskAboutAsthma).
The campaign highlights week 38 in the calendar, known as the ‘September Spike’, when asthma attacks increase after school resumes after the summer holidays.
