New Pupil Engagement Framework - DfE Request for School Input

For all Schools

Children’s Mental Health Week 2026 (9–15 February) focuses on the theme “This is My Place”, emphasising the importance of environments (including schools) where children and young people feel safe, included, valued and supported.

The Department for Education (DfE) recognises that many schools are already taking effective steps to strengthen pupil engagement and would like to hear about good practice in your school to inform a new Pupil Engagement Framework due to be published this year, providing a structured approach to improving pupil engagement.

As part of this work, the DfE is asking schools to complete this short form outlining practice, programmes and approaches that you believe promote pupils’ sense of belonging and help them achieve and thrive in school.

Please note the closing date to complete this form is Monday 27 February 2026.
