Information for Educational Settings regarding The Meningococcal Disease Outbreak
For all Children's Settings (Schools, Nursery and Providers)
Given the continuing media coverage on the meningitis B outbreak in Kent, it is understandable that staff and parents, worried by what they are seeing, can be having a wide range of concerns and questions in relation to the disease.
Following our writing to you on the 18th of March, requesting you to distribute the information leaflet on symptoms to look out for, we are now sending you this link to the United Kingdom Health Security Agency’s information page regarding the outbreak.
It provides a list of responses to commonly asked questions regarding those in education settings, as well as providing links to additional information, including on the disease itself, what to do if learning of a possible case, eligibility for vaccination and the management of contacts.
The situation continues to be a fast moving one and so it is important to continue to remain vigilant and to provide the information necessary to allay concerns about the present outbreak.
