Interfaith Week 2026

For all Headteachers, Governors, RE Leads & Teachers of RE

On behalf of LBE SACRE

The theme for this years' Interfaith Week for Schools, 9th to 15th November, is "Lighting the Way to a Shared Future" in celebration of the belief that, even in challenging times, communities can come together to build understanding, trust and friendship, and drawing on the symbolism of light across faiths and traditions, and including Diwali, which takes place on the opening day of Inter Faith Week.

There will be a host of resources for schools to deliver pre planned assemblies and lessons, ranging from KS1 all the way to KS4, which will be made available on the website at the start of next week, and we are keen too for SACREs to get involved - perhaps including one of the activities vin these lessons as part of an interfaith/interbelief activity for members in a meeting? Or maybe planning and running your own interfaith event for schools?

Don't panic - further ideas and support materials will be coming your way with ideas of how you can contribute.

Promoting Community Cohesion

You may be aware that Culham St Gabriels' Trust has recently launched some materials to support schools in thinking about how they promote the Freedom of Religion and Belief, as well as publishing other projects and research that may also inspire us. They are also sponsoring some webinars which also lend themselves to this valuable theme, including Exploring mutual respect and tolerance in education on 5th November 5–6:30pm 2026.

In addition, there is also a free 'Tackling Antisemitism in Education (TAE) Scholarship Programme' being sponsored by the DfE, and anyone can register their interest in joining a free 2hr online course.

Upcoming Conferences

Booking is now open for the 'RExChange' online conference, taking place on 9th and 10th of October, with a range of speakers covering a multitude of topics, including AI in RE and several focusing on Interfaith Learning in Schools.
