Governor Training - Maintained Schools

Governors have a crucial role in the leadership and management of their school. Our training programme gives you access to expert advice and information to help guide you as effectively as possible through an array of roles and responsibilities.

Why do governors need training?

Training brings the challenges of everyday governance to life and provides governors with the confidence to make a real difference in schools.

Our programme provides induction training for new governors. It also introduces the concept of continuing professional development for governors and has been devised in light of the DfE’s ‘Competency Framework for Governance’, taking into account their changing guidance and legislation.

Which innovative sessions are we providing?

In addition, we have also arranged for a variety of trainers to provide training on Ofsted; Exclusion Panels; Unconscious Bias; Pupil Premium; SFVS and many more.

Platforms

Since Covid-19, we have offered many sessions via video conferencing which has increased attendance and enthusiasm. Some of these will continue virtually and we have also returned to many face to face sessions at various venues in Enfield including Highlands School and CLC on Parsonage Lane.

Do we listen to your needs?

Feedback forms have been completed after each session and we have responded by arranging several new sessions such as Ofsted Update; Role of the Pay Committee; Effective Chairing; Chairing a committee and there will be more.

Support and Mentoring

We also offer targeted support and advice to individual governing bodies and will provide a bespoke session to the entire GB at a nominal cost.
