Covid-19 PEP Information

Dear All,

Happy New Year! Despite the lockdown, I hope that you had a successful start to the new term.

I am writing to confirm that all PEPs will remain ongoing. However, due to the pandemic and the current lockdown, the PEP format will be condensed. Thus, the PEP meetings should not take more than 45 minutes. Please see the document attached.

I would like to emphasize that a PEP is a statutory requirement to ensure that a record is maintained regarding the child's educational progress and thus it forms an integral part of the child's overall care plan. Therefore, all PEP meetings should still go ahead virtually.

Further to that, please note that all PEPs need to be completed in order for the funding to be released. The funding supports looked after children and schools in achieving the termly targets and improving the overall progress. Not completing the PEPs disables the support to be implemented.

The main focus of the condensed PEP will be the review/ setting up targets. Please note that when reviewing/ setting up outcomes 2 targets should be academic and 1 should be SEMH informed. Please keep in mind that all targets should be SMART. However, given the current circumstances, it is important to remain realistic, and set targets that are attainable during the current circumstances, targets that reflect whether children are attending school, accessing remote learning and similar.

Please let me know if I can offer you any further support.

Kind regards
