Enfield Education Covid-19 Visitor Protocol

Covid-19 Visitor Protocol

The London Borough of Enfield is committed to keeping its residents, staff and workers safe and well.  In the Education Service our core responsibility is to heed Public Health England (PHE) advice in order to take every reasonable precaution to protect all our pupils and staff.  All schools had a letter in September showing the Education Service staff and tutors that received safeguarding training and have read the latest version of KCSIE.  In line with guidance from PHE on minimising risks of coronavirus spread, we are requiring all Education Service staff who may visit schools, not to come into work or visit a school / setting if they:

  • have been confirmed as having COVID 19 and are required to self-isolate;
  • have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID 19 within past 10 days;
  • have been in close contact with an asymptomatic confirmed case of COVID 19 within the past 48 hours;
  • are categorised within any of the shielded or clinically vulnerable groups and have been advised by their GP or hospital clinician to either stay at home or leave their home only under limited constraints;
  • or any member of their household or support bubble are showing symptoms and are currently waiting for a test or for test results;
  • have been contacted by an NHS contact tracer and advised to self-isolate; or
  • have recently entered the UK from another country and are required to follow the current quarantine guidelines in place.

All staff and tutors visiting schools and other settings will:

  • Follow latest Government guidance for school staff re: lateral flow tests (LFT).  Currently a self-administered test at least twice a week.  Staff should share their result with the school or setting that they are visiting or have visited if in receipt of a positive result, to help with contact tracing;
  • Current advice from Public Health is that staff should only visit one school or setting in a 24 hour period.  When making dates with school the staff member will inform the school if they are in another school within a 24 hour period;
  • Follow any safety rules on public transport if used;
  • Read any safety leaflets and guidance given by the school;
  • Follow all of information on safeguarding, fire safety, first aid, parking arrangements and COVID 19 control measures;
  • Sign in, leaving a work contact mobile number;
  • Wear their staff and/or a visitors’ identification badge throughout the visit, returning any visitor’s badge used when signing out;
  • Observe the school guidelines on social distancing, hand and respiratory hygiene measures, and all other signage, floor markings and displayed instructions in place at the buildings and locations being visited;
  • Ask questions about arrangements directly with the school or setting during the visit;
  • Follow any additional control measures required as set out in the Enfield Music Service guidance for specific instruments and activities;
  • Follow any additional control measure from the Educational Psychology Service & Schools Emotional Wellbeing Service protocols; and
  • Follow any additional control measures required as set out by AfPE (Association for Physical Education) around the safe use of equipment.

We expect that all schools and settings will:

  • Give visiting Education Service staff all relevant information about safeguarding, fire safety, first aid, parking arrangements and COVID 19 control measures;
  • Contact the member of staff in the event of track and trace activity being necessary;
  • Raise issues about conduct directly with the staff member or tutor during the visit.
