Little Troopers at School - helping the military children in your education setting

FAO: All Schools / All Phases, Pastoral Leads, SENDCo

Little Troopers is a charity has been operating for ten years now and a crucial part of our work has been our ‘Little Troopers at School’ programme. The aim of this programme is to help teachers develop a better understanding of the needs and circumstances of military children and provide them with resources, tools and other information to support these children and their unique challenges within education settings.

The reason for my email is that I would like to draw your attention to three new projects that we have been working on that may be of some interest to you and any schools within your local area that have children of Armed Forces personnel within their setting. These projects are:

Whether a school has one service pupil or two hundred, we believe that these workshops and resources could really help to bolster some of the early intervention and wellbeing strategies that these schools have in place, with added focus on service children’s needs and experiences. We would really appreciate you sharing them with your schools where relevant.

More about Little Troopers

Little Troopers is a registered charity supporting service children who have parent(s) serving in our British Armed Forces, regular or reserve. As a charity, Little Troopers ensures our British Armed Forces children and their families have access to child-focused support wherever they are in the world and whatever community they live in. We provide fundamental resources and initiatives to help ease repeated separation periods and keep parent and child connected even when miles apart.  We are the only charity in the UK dedicated to celebrating just how special all our Little Troopers out there really are.

Latest Tri-Service research shows that half of military parents still worry about the impact of service life on their children and our own research also shows that 96% of forces parents would like to see schools offer more specific support for their children. These issues are the driving force behind Little Troopers and we strongly believe that given the right tools, military children can use their experience in the forces community to become confident, adaptable and resilient adults.
