Child Q safeguarding report

FAO: DSLs, Secondary School Leaders, College Leaders

The publication of the safeguarding report regarding Child Q and the circumstances that took place within a school has led to understandable community concern. We as Safer Schools Officers acknowledge the findings of the review, the impact on those involved and the distress it has caused. Police in Hackney have apologised to the girl involved, her family and the wider community and said this incident should never have happened, and we support that.

There is an ongoing investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct into the matter, but we would like to reassure our schools and education community that we will review any recommendations and learning in this review and the subsequent IOPC report to ensure that the safeguarding of children in London’s schools are paramount. Safer Schools Officers are there to build positive relations with staff and children - we would like to offer our continuing support during this time.
