Gas and Electricity – Pricing and Energy Bill Relief Scheme 21-10-22

As you will know, from prior updates, LASER have been waiting for confirmation of how (and if) the Energy Bill Relief Scheme will apply to our contracts down to supply level.

They are unable to do this until it passes legislation.  The bill has been listed a couple of times but on both occasions has not been read.

The recent resignation of the Prime Minister and the appointment of the new Prime Minister will take priority over the reading/approval of any legislation.  The expectation is the earliest it will be read is mid-November, but it is by no means guaranteed.

There is one update which is an indication of the of pricing from 1st October 2022.  Regrettably this has increased considerably for the gas since the last figures given in the summer (55%). There is a slight decrease in the electricity from 70% The new increases are:

Gas – 168%

Electric – 67%

Clearly this is not good news, but I can assure you LASER are still achieving below average prices in an extremely challenging market.

I must, again, thank you for your patience in this and assure you that more updates regarding the release of the pricing and the Energy Bill Relief Scheme will follow.

Kind regards.
