i-Thrive Community of Practice Event 6th February 2024
For Headteachers, SENCO's, Safeguarding Leads & Senior Mental Health Leads in Primary & Secondary Schools
Please join the launch of our first cross agency Community of Practice NCL i-THRIVE event. You may already be aware that The THRIVE framework is an integrated, person centred and needs led approach to delivering mental health services for children, young people and their families that was developed by a collaboration of authors from the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families and the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.
It has been incorporated into the North Central London Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Transformation Plan and the ICB has commissioned the National i-THRIVE team to deliver a series of learning events.
The THRIVE Framework conceptualises need in five categories; Thriving, Getting Advice and Signposting, Getting Help, Getting More Help and Getting Risk Support and it is the Getting Risk support category of need that we will focus on at this event. This category incorporates children, young people and their families who have either not benefitted from mental health services or who for a number of reasons are not ready or able to access the services in the way we are offering them. There may be a great deal of anxiety about the child or young person and they may also be at risk in a number of different way’s including posing risks to themselves or others. Declining mental health, low self-esteem and feelings of loneliness can escalate children and young people’s vulnerability to a range of risks including abuse, sexual violence, criminalization, grooming and bullying. The resulting cycle of trauma can be overwhelming and is likely to negatively impact on their life chances and long term wellbeing.
We have an opportunity to think creatively about this group and how to get it right for them. Within the CoP event you will have an opportunity to hear from experts in the field alongside sharing ideas and knowledge with colleagues from across all of the services that provide support to children, young people and their families.
If you work with children and families (0-25 years) whether it be in health, education, youth justice, policing, community and voluntary sector, primary care, social care or you have lived experience we would love you to join us !
