STA Assessment Update 16th June 2026

The Standards and Testing Agency (STA) latest email was sent on 16th June 2026 and includes the following information, actions and reminders listed below.

Primary assessments general
- Action: tell us what you think of our communications by Friday 11th September
- Reminder: multi-academy trusts and key stage 3 schools can now access the NCA Portal
Key stage 1
- Reminder: administer the phonics screening check to pupils who did not take it last week
- Action: submit the phonics screening check headteacher's declaration form by Tuesday 30 June
- Action: submit phonics screening check data to your local authority
- Information: the phonics screening check materials and threshold mark will be published on Monday 22 June
Key stage 2
- Reminder: administer the multiplication tables check (MTC) to pupils who did not take it during the check period
- Reminder: ensure MTC data is complete and submit the headteacher’s declaration form by Friday 19 June
- Reminder: submit KS2 teacher assessment data by Friday 26 June
- Reminder: guidance on accessing 2026 KS2 results published
The STA have advised their next assessment update, issue 17, will be the last one for this academic year. The STA will send it on the afternoon of Monday 6 July, with all the information you need before key stage 2 (KS2) results are returned to schools at 7:30am on Tuesday 7 July.
