NLWA Updates - November 2026.

Welcome to the second edition of our Education Steering Group Newsletter!

A few updates from us:

• Luke has now started adoption leave and is expected to return in May 2027. If you need anything you would usually go to Luke for, please contact education@nlwa.gov.uk.

• Jessie will be returning from maternity leave in November and we're all looking forward to welcoming her back.
• Matt is our new starter, covering for Joe while he steps up into Lizzie's role during her maternity leave. Matt will be helping to facilitate EcoPark house visits, so you'll likely see him at events too.

LARAC Winners!

The 2026 LARAC Celebration Awards took place on Wednesday 7 October at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, bringing together people from across the local authority waste and recycling sector.

We were pleased to win the Best Waste Minimisation or Prevention Award for our School Uniform Reuse Network. Launched in March 2026, the network is now available across 29 London boroughs and was developed in partnership with three other waste authorities through London Councils' Climate Programme.

We have also been shortlisted for the Social Value Award at the National Recycling Awards for our In The Know programme. The awards take place in December and we're looking forward to finding out the result!

We’d be grateful if you could help us promote the following:

School Uniform Reuse Network - £150 for new schools

The School Uniform Reuse Network is a digital platform that helps schools across London set up and manage their own school uniform reuse schemes. It provides schools with the tools and resources to make it easier to reuse school uniform, helping to reduce textile waste and save families money.

We are currently offering £150 to new schools that sign up to the network. The offer is open to schools in north London boroughs.

Please share this opportunity with any schools you work with and encourage them to sign up. It’s a great way for schools to support families while reducing the amount of textiles going to waste.
