STA Assessment update – 1st September

The Standards and Testing Agency (STA) latest email was sent on 1 September 2026 and includes the following information, actions and reminders listed below.

Primary assessments general
- Reminder: tell us what you think of our communications by Friday 11 September
- Reminder: sign up to email alerts directly from GOV.UK
- Action: review your NCA Portal user access
- Publication: updated parent information leaflets for all assessments in the academic year 2026 to 2027
Reception
- Action: ensure your school’s devices are ready to administer the reception baseline assessment
- Action: administer the reception baseline assessment in the first 6 weeks of term
Key stage 2
- Reminder: apply for a review of pupils’ KS2 test results
- Action: complete the 2026 KS2 September checking exercise from Monday 7 September
- Action: submit outstanding teacher assessment data to support the KS2 checking exercise by Friday 18 September
