Travel for Life Accreditations 2026
This year has marked another remarkable chapter for Enfield’s TfL’s Travel for Life programme, with Enfield schools leading the way in sustainable, active, and safe travel.
Over 60 schools across the Borough are now engaged and accredited, representing 58% of all local schools — a testament to the dedication of teachers, pupils, and the wider school community. The 2026 accreditations saw a significant rise in Gold-level accreditations, with a record of 50 schools attaining this highest standard. Meanwhile, the programme continues to support schools at every stage, guiding them from Bronze to Silver and onward to Gold, fostering a culture of active travel that benefits children, families, and the environment alike.
It's been our best year yet, with a record 50 Gold Schools, up from 43 in 2025 and 28 in 2024. The total number of engaged and accredited schools also increased from 48 to 55 this year, demonstrating continued growth in participation and achievement across the programme.
Travel for Life is more than an accreditation. It’s an initiative that inspires young Londoners to walk, cycle, and wheel to school, while embedding safety, responsibility, and sustainability into everyday journeys. Participating schools make tangible contributions to reducing traffic congestion at the school gates, improving air quality, raising awareness of road safety, and nurturing healthier, more active communities.
As Enfield schools continue to embrace Travel for Life, Enfield sets a shining example of how communities can come together to champion active, responsible, and sustainable travel. The journey may start at the school gate, but its benefits extend far beyond into cleaner air, healthier children, and a more connected community.
