PLEASE READ - URGENT RECALL OF SOME BRANDS OF PLAY SAND POSSIBLY CONTAINING ASBESTOS
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Dear Colleagues
We have been made aware of an issue this morning regarding a specific brands of play sand which may or may not contain asbestos.
Our advice is that we should adopt a precautionary approach as follows:
- schools to check the official UK product recall database and search for asbestos-related notices.

If products match a recall notice schools should:
- Stop using this sand immediately
- Ensure any stocks of this sand remain unopened and stored where they will not be disturbed
- Contact the ASBESTOS TEAM to assess the risk and provide advice
The Asbestos Team are aware of this issue and will provide advice regarding testing or remediation and disposal as necessary, where the sand is already in use.
