STA Assessment update 19 May 2026

For all Schools with EYFS, KS1 and KS2 Phase

The Standards and Testing Agency (STA) latest email was sent on 19 May 2026 and includes the following updates and reminders listed below.

Reception

  • Publication: 2026 RBA assessment and reporting arrangements (ARA)

Key stage 1

  • Reminder: phonics screening check materials arrive in schools this week
  • Reminder: how to access optional KS1 test materials for administration in May

Key stage 2

  • Action: complete KS2 test attendance registers and aid notifications on the NCA Portal by Friday 22 May
  • Action: submit the KS2 headteacher’s declaration form (HDF) by Friday 29 May
  • Reminder: you can apply for timetable variations until Thursday 21 May
  • Reminder: you can apply for additional time until Thursday 21 May
  • Reminder: notify us if a pupil cheated in the KS2 tests by Friday 22 May
  • Reminder: you can apply for special consideration until the end of this week
  • Information: 2026 KS2 test materials and mark schemes will be published on Friday 22 May
  • Action: submit KS2 teacher assessment data by Friday 26 June
  • Action: prepare to administer the MTC from Monday 1 June
