School Music Development Planning
The new National Plan for Music Education, published in 2022, calls on schools to create a development plan for music and to publish it on their website alongside music curriculum information for September 2024.
The Department for Education suggest that publishing a summary will help schools to:
- raise awareness of their music development plan
- promote the school music offer to parents and prospective parents
- give greater opportunity for schools and music hubs to work together
We have run several sessions and produced/collated guidance, documents and templates to support schools in creating these plans, and the following can be downloaded from this page:
- EMS guidance on producing a music development plan
- Presentation from EMS session (2023) on self-evaluation and creating a development plan
- Presentation from EMS session with Samantha Ojokor (2024) on the role of a Primary Music Lead & development planning
