School Admission Appeals Service

This service is offered to Academies and Free Schools. As these schools are their own admission authority, they are responsible for making arrangements for independent panels to hear parents' appeals against a decision not to admit their child to the school.

Appeals can be lodged by parents of children who are refused a place at primary or secondary school at any point in the academic year.

We have a proven track record of successfully arranging admission appeals within the requirements of the School Admission Appeals Code and have built up a large pool of experienced and trained independent panel members.


School Exclusion Reviews  

This service is offered to academies and free schools. These schools are responsible for making arrangements for independent panels to hear a parent's appeal against a decision to permanently exclude their child from the school.

We have a proven track record of successfully arranging exclusion reviews within the statutory framework and have built up a large pool of experienced and trained independent panel members. We source high quality clerking for review hearings and, where required, legally trained representatives for schools to provide expert advice and assistance on preparing and presenting the school's case.


Schools & Early Years Improvement Services

This service’s purpose is to enable schools to develop and maintain outstanding teaching and outstanding leadership.

We achieve this by:

  • providing a highly effective School Improvement Advisor Service, 97% of Enfield schools currently rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted
  • analysing the relevant data and engaging closely with our local stakeholders in order to ascertain professional learning needs and then ensuring best-evidenced based practice underpins all professional learning and development opportunities
  • providing bespoke school based consultancy and professional development packages which are tailored to individual school’s development needs, support implementation and enable maximising impact on pupil outcomes
  • offering regionally and nationally acclaimed programmes underpinned by the National Standards for Professional Development, delivered centrally at accessible local venue
  • encouraging and supporting Joint Practice Development between leaders, teachers and support staff within and between schools
  • representing Enfield on range of local, regional and national bodies to ensure stakeholders’ views are fully heard
  • signposting schools to potential sources of funding for the benefit of their professional learning and development
  • developing partnerships with trusted providers including local Teaching Schools to ensure excellent learning and development provision at best value rates
  • encouraging and supporting schools to develop their own in-house and local professional learning and leadership development programmes to enable capacity building in relation to self-sustaining school improvement.

To underpin our role of supporting schools to raise achievement for all children and young people we offer four professional learning and development packages. New in 2017-18 we are offering bespoke Consultancy to support school improvement and embed professional development. We also provide a School Improvement Advisor Service to Enfield Primary, Secondary, Special and Academy/Out Borough Primary (this service is without charge to Enfield LA Maintained Primaries as funded via DSG). Our packages for 2017-18 are:

  • The Professional Development Programme for Teachers, School Leaders and SBMs
  • Consultancy to support school improvement and embed professional development
  • Teaching Assistants and School Support Staff Development Programme
  • The SEND/Inclusion Professional Learning and Development Programme
  • Governor Professional Learning and Development Programme
  • School Improvement Advisor Service for Secondary, Special & Academies

Schools Emotional Well-being Service

This service offers the opportunity to buy Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) clinician time to be used in schools. CAMHS staff are qualified and experienced specialist child mental health professionals.

Our aim is to create a customised health and emotional wellbeing service to meet the needs of the particular school that is using the service. Several schools may decide to cluster together to purchase jointly.

Our direct work with children and families in the school setting includes:

  • providing assessment and short-term therapeutic intervention (up to six meetings) to children, young people and their families
  • early identification of and intervention for emotional problems, ensuring that children, young people and their families have the support that they need and receive the level of care appropriate to their difficulties
  • undertaking an observation of a child in school and making recommendations (with parental consent)
  • speedy availability of CAMHS specialist advice for parents
  • providing accessible help for families who are unable to engage with CAMHS in the usual way
  • increasing parents' skills and confidence in managing challenging behaviour by provi

Schools Health & Safety Service

This service gives educational establishments access to a comprehensive Health and Safety support service and training to meet legislative requirements.

The service will be delivered by fully qualified officers who have detailed knowledge of Employment and Health and Safety law and of the policies and procedures of a local authority. This guards against exposure to risk of prosecution where suitable and sufficient support is not otherwise available. As part of a local authority dealing with schools, they are experienced in the application and requirements of legislation and how it can be effectively applied in this specific context.

Community schools receive this service at no charge and do not need to indicate that they require the service. For voluntary aided or foundation schools, the standard services can be bought for an agreed fee, with a separate additional arrangement for customised services and visits.


Schools Personnel Service

With excellent knowledge of Enfield schools and links with other key local authority and council services, our Schools Personnel Service provides specialist advice relating to conditions of service and other employment matters involving school-based employees.

The service differs for three different types of educational institutions:

  • community and voluntary-aided schools
  • foundation schools
  • academies and non-maintained schools

Community and voluntary-aided schools

The service covers two main elements, which are available separately:

  • Advice and Employment Documentation Service, which provides online, telephone and face-to-face support covering, for example:
    • production of policies, procedures and guidelines
    • advice and guidance on pay and conditions
    • attendance at disciplinary, grievance and redundancy hearings
    • processing advertisements
    • ensuring necessary employment checks have been carried out
    • processing starters, changes and terminations of service
  • Primary School Supply Pool. This service provides supply teachers and relief support staff. It deals with recruitment and selection to the Pool, completion of all relevant paperwork and any complaint

Schools Waste & Recycling Service

This service provides reliable and environmentally responsible waste collection to Enfield schools.

The service is tailored to your school's specific needs. We offer flexible contract terms, value-for money with no hidden charges, a wide choice of bin sizes and a fully commingled recycling service.


Secondary Physical Education Service

This service provides high quality advice and support on developing and maintaining outstanding physical education and dance in secondary schools. It is linked to Educational Visits Support and Advice.
